These Spot The Number Games are an engaging way for students to work on identifying numbers 1-20. This resource is designed for students to develop their number sense skills when working on numbers 1-10 and 11-20.
Once students have a solid understanding of different ways numbers can be represented, these are a perfect game to play to further develop students’ number knowledge.
Spot the Number can be used for:
- Morning activities
- Lesson warm-ups
- Math centers / rotations
- Whole class or
- Small group activities
How the game works:
- Print out the number cards or number sentence cards (depending on what skills you want your students to work on)
- Print the accompanying answer boards and your students are ready to play. This game can be played independently, or with 2– 3 players.
- Players take turns to flip over a card and try to spot the number or answer on the gameboard. Once found, they cover the answer with a counter on the gameboard and place their card in the discard pile. If students can’t find the answer, they turn the card back over and the next player takes a turn.
- The winner is the person with the most counters on the game board.

Differentiation tips:
We have added different variations to suit your learners. Students can simultaneously be working on number identification and addition and subtraction problems if they are in mixed ability groupings.
Start students with game boards 1-10 and then move onto 10-11. Once students are competent identifying the numbers, move them onto the addition and subtraction cards.
