Ordering Numbers Maths Activity | Place Value Math Centres | Grades 1-2

This activity is designed to provide students with a hands-on, differentiated activity when it comes to ordering numbers. An ideal activity to use for maths rotations or independent learning in Grade 1 or Grade 2.

How this Activity Works:

For differentiation, we have included a set of 2-digit cards and a set of 3-digit cards, along with different recording templates. Both sets can be combined and used together.

When providing learning opportunities for students, choose cards to suit learners needs. Some students may be able to work with all representations of the numbers, others may need to work with cards in just number and word form.

As an additional challenge using the 2-digit cards students could create a ‘hundreds chart’ using the different representation of numbers (note: numbers 1-100 are featured but there are also a few double ups as well).

An instructional task card is included to be used by the teacher, parent helper or read by the students themselves (two versions of each task card is included: an A4 poster and an A5 version that can be folded in half to create a standing sign). On every A4 poster there is a list of resources needed for the task

In the 3-digit number sets, we have left a row blank if you wish for students to create their own number cards. As well, we have included a completely blank template.
