I gave this as an entry task to my 6th graders to get them back into math mode after winter break. Some of the students are struggling with number sense so it was great to support some of those concepts before we jump back into the deep end of our curriculum. Just a great review activity for them to get them thinking through some math skills that we will need this semester. They were engaged and excited to solve the mystery.
