This fraction craft is a fun way for students to put their knowledge about halves into action. Teach your students about the concept of 'half' and then ask them to decorate each half of their pizza using different toppings.
What is included:
- Chef head (boy and girl) plus hands
- Pizza base to decorate
- Pizza base for recording
- Blank pizza base (if you need to differentiate for learners)
- Pizza toppings (students could share 1 page between 2)
What students need to do:
- Students decorate each half of their pizza using different toppings (we recommend they stick to 3 toppings on each side).
- They then record what they used to decorate each half of their pizza on the recording pizza base
- Finally, they put their creations together by cutting their pizza in half and sticking it over the recording base to make 2 flaps. They attach their chef head to the top of the pizza and hands on either side of their pizza (optional).
When teaching fractions in Kindergarten these pizzas are an ideal:
- Hands-on activity
- Classroom display
- Assessment
