The ultimate math warmup focusing on decimals. These Decimal of the Day templates have been designed for you to engage students in learning all about how the number system works when working with numbers that include decimals.
These decimal of the day templates have been created so you can use them with any number with a decimal containing tenths, hundredths and thousandths.
Each template includes a range of appropriate number sense skills to help develop competent and confident mathematicians in your classroom.
We have included a range of templates that cover different number skills expected according to the Australian ACARA outcomes and the Common Core Standards.
This document has been broken up into five sections:
- No whole numbers
- Numbers with tenths
- Numbers with tenths and hundredths
- Numbers with tenths, hundredths and thousandths and
- Any decimal number.
Each section has four different templates (including a half page template). Use the different worksheets to focus on particular skills, differentiate or provide variety for your students.

Decimal of the Day has become an absolute staple in our math routine! We use it as our daily brain warm-up, and my students genuinely enjoy it. A perfect way to review decimals daily to help students continue to practice the skill and master it.
I used this for summer acceleration and my students loved it once they really got the hand of it. This was a warm up activity that helped prepare the 4th graders for the beginning of 5th grade math. This would also be great for homework.
