Perfect for middle to upper primary students, this engaging resource challenges students to crack four different codes to uncover the culprit in a classic "whodunit" style.

Find more code-cracker resources inside this money-saving BUNDLE.

What is included:

  • Background Story (to set the stage)
  • 5 Challenging Clues + Bonus
  • List of Suspects
  • PowerPoint Presentation to introduce the problem + display the suspect list
  • Answer key for teachers

How It Works:

Start the lesson by reading the background story as a class. Students then work independently or in groups to tackle each code, eliminating elf suspects along the way.

Each clue narrows down the suspect list by half, building excitement until only one elf remains!

Best of all, students can complete the clues in any order, allowing for flexible use in different classroom setups.

Why Teachers Love It:

  • Interactive and engaging
  • Low prep
  • Versatile Use: Use as a whole-class lesson, group challenge, or Christmas fast-finisher activity.

Benefits for Students:

  • Develops logical thinking
  • Encourages collaboration

Interesting concept, but not worth the $

Students were able to crack the code without having to complete all the tasks. I also found a mistake in one of the grid questions.
