Christmas time is about the gift of giving, but it doesn’t always need to be physical gifts. Giving and receiving compliments can really make someone feel good. Teach your students the art of giving compliments with this simple lesson and beautiful bulletin board display.
This resource includes everything you need to spread a little more kindness in your classroom this festive season.
Inclusions:
- Teacher lesson plan
- Compliment leaves (blank template + a template with sentence starters)
- Bow clipart
- Letters to add names to wreaths
- “Compliment Wreaths” bulletin board letters
- Bauble template (to practice compliment writing). We have included 3 versions to suit different age groups or easily differentiate. If you are short on time, you could give your students the example page to use as a guide.
Teacher tip: Give each child a set of compliment leaves, then ask students to move from desk to desk, leaving compliments for each other on the leaf templates. We have found students moving around allows them to see who needs compliments and saves some students getting lots, and others only getting a few.
No further teacher prep needed, simply print and enjoy watching kindness spread while your class give each other compliments!

I used this with my P3s (7-8 year olds) and some struggled with the concept of compliments. I would definitely do this with older children.
I use this as a December bulletin board. Kiddos love going around and writing down positive thoughts about their classmates. Students love reading what they classmates said about them. Love this resource. Thank you.

We made these in our last week of term for our school Christmas party. They looked fantastic, but the most wonderful thing was having learners write geniune compliments about each other that brought a smile to everyone's face. Thank you.
We used this activity to add to the theme of kindness that is the school wide theme for the year. Everyone had to include something kind about someone else in the class while making their wreath. The finished product is hanging in the staircase for all the school to see. It turned out really nicely and the students are still reading what was said about everyone. Love the activity.
A really nice activity to be used for Christmas but also during kindness week. I substituted the leaves for flowers!
Our classroom theme is "Kindness" and this is the perfect activity to do at Christmas!
Lots of ways to extend this activity, it can take longer or shorter. My class found it a great low rain end of year activity and starting the day by talking about being kind made such a difference to our day.

These came out so cute, and my kids loved seeing all the nice things written about them.
This was a great activity for students around the holidays. I left it for a sub and they came out beautifully. Parents even commented on how nice it was to draw the kids focus to kindness towards others at such a hectic time of year.
This was a really sweet activity to do with my students.
This was my favorite activity of the holiday season. Students chose classmates to make the wreath for and then we hung them in the hallway to display them. On the last day before our winter break, students took them down and delivered them to their classmates. It was a huge success.
