3D Objects Scavenger Hunt | Shapes Investigation | Grades 2-3

This 3D objects pack includes 8 word problems is designed to provide students with a fun and interactive way to practice names and properties of 3D objects. Students can self-correct problems since each solution is recorded on the top of the next question to answer.

A variety of mathematical language has been used with the purpose of exposing students to the different ways 3D objects can be described. Problems have been carefully created to meet ACARA standards and will build proficiency in students knowing the key features of 3D objects.

TWO Versions included one using 'vertices' and one using 'corners'.

 

How this Pack Works:

Introduce the investigation to your students (set the stage to engage).

Display each of the 8 problem cards around your classroom + give each student a recording sheet.

Allocate students to a problem to begin working on (it does not matter where students begin because the scavenger hunt/investigation is set up in a loop.

Students work on each problem by reading/solving it. They look for the answer to the question by looking for the 3D object and name on the top of the next card. When they find the one that matches the answer they are looking for, they begin working on the new problem underneath (if they cannot find the answer, this indicated to the student they have made a mistake and need to reread the question and attempt the problem again.) A recording page is included for students to complete throughout the investigation.
